Public Access Department
The Public Access Department serves as the Custodian of Public Records for the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, and provides citizens access to many of the records held by the Clerk and Comptroller. Public Records
Board Records
Review Board Records, including meetings and agendas of the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC), the Value Adjustment Board, Planning Commission, and the current Sarasota County Charter.
Court Records
Pursuant to Supreme Court of Florida Administrative Order 20-108, Standards for Access to Electronic Court Documents and Security Matrix, the general public is now permitted to view many court records online. Inactive records may need to be obtained from storage for review. You may call ahead to request a court record for review. For your convenience, Public Access also fills Record Search Requests for customers unable to visit business offices.

County Financial Reports
Review County Financial Reports online including revenue, spending, debt, and investment reports for Sarasota County.
Inspector General Audit Reports
Review audit reports of the Inspector General.
Marriage Records
Search Marriage Records 1982 to present. Records prior to 1982 can be ordered through Record Search Request or viewed in the Public Access Department.
Official Records
Sarasota County Official Records from the year 1921 to present are available on microfilm and electronically.
- Search and view online land and Official Records (deeds, mortgages, liens, and judgments) from 1990 to present.
- Records prior to 1990 can be ordered through a Record Search Request or viewed on microfilm in the Public Access Department.
Plat Records
Search and view Plat Records for subdivisions and condominiums online.
Records Search Requests
Records Search Requests are accepted by:
- Mail, Public Access Department, P.O. Box 3079, Sarasota, FL, with a check or money order (made payable to the Sarasota County Clerk and Comptroller)
- Phone, 941-861-7400, when payment is made by credit card; or
- Fax, 941-861-7738, when payment is made by credit card.
Please include the name, years to search, case number (if applicable), document needed, and any additional information available to you that will assist the Clerk and Comptroller's office in fulfilling your request. Also, specify if you require a plain or certified copy of the document. Copy requests are completed in approximately three business days from the date received, provided all required information and fees are included.
Records and Search Fees
- Search Fees - $2.00 per name per year to search the Official Records
- Copies - $1.00 per page
- Certification - $2.00 per document
Paying by Credit Card
When making a request using a credit card, customers should include the card number, expiration date, name on the credit card, the billing address including zip code, and the three or four digit CVV code on the back of the card, for added security. Please note that credit card transactions are subject to a 3.5% processing fee, charged by a third-party payment provider.
